Now it's my turn to read the books that I couldn't read earlier because our students kept checking them out! I've got enough to keep me busy for a while!

International Fun Day
Our school PTA, and especially Mrs. Letitia Johnson, planned a wonderful International Fun Day last week. The 3rd-5th graders upstairs were so excited to be through with the MCT2 and the lower grades were glad to not have to be so quiet while the upper grades were testing that the festivities were especially appreciated and enjoyed. Thank you PTA for being so committed to making Davis a wonderful place to be for all!
Students rotated through stations about Pakistan, Israel, Russia, Argentina, Ethiopia, China, and India. They all enjoyed listening to guest speakers, making music, playing games, tasting food, and dancing. What a great time to discover the diverse population of cultures of our school! Check out my pictures to see the fun we had!
Additional note added June 15:
Check out the link on JPS's web page about our International Fun Day. The "facepaint" they mention wasn't face paint at all... it was mud from the Dead Sea! And the students LOVED the way it felt on their skin! Davis International Fun Day

MCT2 Pep Rally
Boy did we have some fun at Friday's MCT2 pep rally! The drumline started the show with some cool rhythms. The 3rd - 5th graders were then cheered on by some energetic kindergarteners, funky first graders, and jumpy second graders! Then they encouraged each other through dance, rap, and song! What a fun time! Thanks to Senorita Broom and the classroom teachers for helping pull all of this together! What a great team we have at Davis!
Those 4th grade boys put on quite a show! |

NBC Learn K-12
I hope that you all have heard about this and are beginning to use this as a tool for research. NBC Learn has been made available to our school district by a grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation (have you read the book in our library titled The Cornflake King: Mr. W.K. Kellogg and His Amazing Cereal?) and NBC Learn. It is an excellent source for videos from current events to historical information and all in-between! Follow this link to the JPS archive page announcing the news: http://www.jackson.k12.ms.us/content.aspx?url=/page/press&nid=1448.
Here's the link straight to NBC Learn: http://archives.nbclearn.com/portal/site/k-12.
Enjoy!
